In addition to the information you will enter, the model uses historical weather data based on the location you specify. The tool will be able to estimate your corn yield response, as well as nitrate leaching and nitrous oxide emission from your soil. SALUS can help you evaluate different farm practices and their impact on nitrogen loss and will provide useful information about nitrogen use and efficiency.

Your weather data file must contain daily values of the following variables for at least 2 consecutive years:

• Maximum temperature (degrees Celsius)
• Minimum temperature (degrees Celsius)
• Precipitation (millimeters)
• Solar radiation (megajoules per meter squared per day)
